Welcome to Reality Check

Blog #1

Welcome to Reality Check, the place where a shift in your perspective can alter your reality.

Our reality has been created by chance, by choice, and by destiny. Whether that is true or not is what we will look at here. Was it chance, or was it destiny that decided who our parents are and if we would be born in a favorable environment; economically, socially, politically, etc? Yes, wouldn’t we all want to have been born to rich parents, live in a country where our freedoms are assured, have perfect health, and be able to live the life that we choose.

How is our Reality created?

We have free will! Almost every moment of every day we chose what happens next. From the moment we jump out of bed…Oops, some of us crawl, are pushed, or pulled…”Mom, I don’t want to go to school today!“…to, hitting that snooze button one more time because our job sucks, we all have the ability to create what happens next. Well, maybe not. Scrap free will.

Life is pre-destined! Your grand-parents were Christians, your mother and father were Christians, well, I guess I have to be a Christian also. No? Try living in an orthodox or fundamental Christian family. You were raised in a Muslim family, your brothers are extremists, and you have to marry a Muslim from a good family. Want a Christian boyfriend? No, you are Muslim! He better watch out for your brothers. Destiny sucks!

Let’s roll the dice. Chance! Sperm meets egg, throw in a little bit of DNA from each, BOOM, you’re a six foot tall blond living in Tokyo. Damn, how did that happen? I want to have curly brown hair, bigger boobs, shorter legs, be athletic…I want…I want…I want…I want…WHY didn’t I have different parents? I AM so unlucky!

Alright, so we can’t chose who our parents are. Yes, or no?

In some circles, some may call fringe, or even wackos (in the extreme), they say that our souls choose our parents.

First off, I don’t believe that we have a soul. If I have no soul then my being here is all biological. That’s my position and no matter what you say can make me change my mind!

Now why would that be my position and why am I so adamant about being correct?

This is what this blog is all about. No topic will be off-limit. Someone wants to discuss politics, we’ll broach the subject, discuss a certain position, then bring up the REALITY check. Hopefully the information provided will spark some honest and open communication which, hopefully, will create a shift in someone’s reality.

I encourage you to read the comments section as that is where we learn to see someone else’ perspective. Some comments will be in the extreme, either strongly agreeing or disagreeing, with the discussed topic. It is in seeing the various levels of beliefs in an individuals position that we can learn to shift our own reality.

BTW. My belief is that we do have a soul, that it chooses our parents, that my life was destined to be as it is, that I do have free will, and that we all have the ability to shift our reality.
